The cogeneration plants, also called cogenerative plants, are being developed to implement the operation of the installations of transformation of energy, such as generators, which use the combustion of fuel to produce electricity in turn used for heating of environments and the production of heat.
The principle of operation of the cogeneration plants is to use the residual energy transformations that would be lost in order to obtain a positive effect.
HOW DO THEY WORK? AN EXAMPLE
The most typical example is the exploitation of the heat from the combustion occurring inside an engine to heat an environment, as happens in the passenger compartments of cars. The cogeneration system of the car in some cases also takes advantage of the pressure caused by the exhaust gases to set in motion the turbines necessary to overeating, which further improves the efficiency of the whole.
